Folsom Street Fair 2008

29 September 2008 15:20

TrainerFolsom Street Fair 2008San Francisco, CA –- Yesterday marked the first anniversary of my art film debut with the release of Fear, the release of my seventh feature Folsom Undercover and the second Folsom Street Fair with my boy Derek. This entry also marks the one year anniversary of this blog which has chronicled what has proven to be a wild and unexpected adventure.

Wild is definitely the adjective I’d use to describe yesterday’s festivities at the street fair. Derek and I arrive a little after noon to work our shifts at the TitanMen/NakedSword mega booth and the streets were already crowed asshole to bellybutton with people. Titan provided headshots for all the performers to sign, calendars to give away and a large stack of my ‘trading cards’ from NakedSword for me to hand out. As soon as we got into the booth there were calls from the crowd for autographs and photo ops. Derek and I jumped right in greeting both fans and friends as they came to the booth, giving away studio swag and a gift of our own.

Derek and I brought 300 black & white checkered hankies to hand out at the booth this year (photo above). The checker hanky is the hanky code flag for safer sex and represents a commitment to responsible play. Over the past year we’ve learned of far too many of our friends and acquaintances seroconverting, witnessed a cavalier attitude toward safer sex practices grow to become nearly normative and risk behavior touted as transgressive, edgy and cool. Bull shit.

Folsom Street Fair 2008The checker hanky was introduced in the 80’s, when as a community we worked hard to advocate safer sex and get the message out. And it worked; HIV transmission rates decreased through the 80’s and 90’s. Now, as we begin the 21st century, HIV transmission rates are on the rise among men who have sex with men. Something’s gone terribly wrong.

I was lucky; I got the message early. I realized I love sex and learn at an early age that the safer I was doing it the longer I’d be around to do it. I know a couple of ‘art film’ personalities handing out checkered hankies isn’t going to make much of a difference in the grand scheme of things, but if we can encourage even a few people to stand fast in their personal commitment to sexual health and the health of their partners regardless of HIV status then perhaps the message will reach more people than 300 checkered hankies.

Last year might have been larger than life but this year was mobile. Titan had wrapped the studio’s production van with the images of several exclusives, including yours’ truly (image above). We were playing the Blu-Ray™ edition of Folsom Undercover in the back of the van, but I wasn’t in a position to see the movie. I don’t think we would have had much time to take it in anyway. Titan seemed to have everyone on hand for the event. François Sagat, Dean Flynn, Diesel Washington, Alex Baresi, Dirk Jager, Frank Philipp, Eduardo, Rich van Sant, Chad Manning, Dominic Sol and Marco Blaze were all at the booth in addition to Derek and me.

Folsom Street Fair 2008Bonus: In addition to all those beautiful men, there was one more wonderful surprise, my boy from Seattle. Jeff (photo right) had been vacationing in Hawaii and had changed his flights home to include a stopover in San Francisco to join Derek and I at the Folsom Street Fair. It was great to have him there, but I wish I had gotten a chance to spend more time with him and I’m sure the whole thing was rather bizarre for him. He was a great help throughout the day and I need to think of a way to thank him for being there… oh, wait, I’ve got a pretty good idea how I can thank him, same way I thanked him yesterday morning for coming into town.

Toward the end of the day, NakedSword ask if Derek and I would come over their booth to create a crowd. It was our pleasure to help out our friends at NakedSword. A little impromptu rope bondage and impact play seemed to do the trick quite nicely (photo below by Darwin Bell for TheSword.com). I tied Derek down in one of my favorite ties for sex, his arms and legs securely bound beneath him with his ass exposed, then proceeded to deliver a good spanking with my hands and belt. The crowed seemed both horrified by and attracted to the intensity of this spur of the moment scene, which was really quite timid by our standards. At one point I overheard someone in the throngs say, “its okay they’re partners.”

Folsom Street Fair 2008Afterward, we did a little instructional bondage work, stuck around for some photo ops/autographs and handed out the last of the hankies.

When the street fair closed down Derek, Jeff and I walked over to the Hole in the Wall’s new digs and finally got some quality time together. While many of our friends decided to go to the Real Bad party, we preferred the music and surroundings of one of our favorite dive bars. And did we have fun. There’s nothing like cutting loose after being ‘on’ all day.

This morning we sent Jeff off to the airport for his flight home. Derek and I just got back from brunch and some shopping in the Castro and are about to head out to the airport ourselves. I’m exhausted, have picked up a cold and am not looking forward to saying goodbye to my boy. Luckily we get to see each other again in a couple weeks at ILSb.

Folsom Weekend: MOD and Magnitude

28 September 2008 11:08

MineFolsom Folsom Weekend: MOD and MagnitudeSan Francisco, CA –- The last couple days have been absolutely, incredibly unbelievable. The over whelming publicity, recognition on the street, reconnecting with the Titan crew and other performers, and a harried schedule have all contributed to this whirl-wind trip to San Fran.

Derek and I arrived at the Oakland airport Friday morning and were immediately inundated by friends and fans. It was kind of unnerving. After checking in with Roger at Shotgun, where we were staying for the weekend, we ventured out to the Castro to get some food and were literally stopped on the street five times by people we knew or knew of us. And that doesn’t count the knowing looks, pointing and candid photos taken by strangers from a distance. It was, well, a little strange. After lunch Derek and I ran into Julian from NakedSword and he showed us my Dream Team trading card and the two-page spread in Gloss magazine. I was really happy to see they had used the image of me standing in my leathers rather than the stills from Breakers for both. After getting back to Shotgun, Derek pointed out the Bay Area Reporter’s Arts & Entertainment section front page with my image from Folsom Prison to me. Well that explained a few things.

Folsom Folsom Weekend: MOD and MagnitudeSide Bar: Derek has done several Shotgun videos over the few years he’s been doing art films and I got to meet Roger a couple years ago at a leather/Sm run up in Washington State. I immediately fell in love with Roger. That’s him photographed above, beating my nuts during a demo this past summer. That same week Derek and I shot a video for Shotgun under Roger’s direction with permission from Titan. I had wanted to do a video with Roger and Derek since I first started in the industry and I am extremely grateful to Titan for loaning me out under contract to do the video. Roger says Squeeze Play is being edited now, so I’ll let you know as soon as it’s available.

Friday night Derek and I had dinner with Brian Mills from Titan then went to the Men of Discipline Play Party at the Citadel. We were both pretty exhausted after travelling and settling in, but that didn’t stop us from playing. I decided to work out some new rigging; a horizontal side suspension. I hadn’t attempted this in the past so it was fun to just experiment and play around with it and my favorite stunt bottom. It wasn’t a heavy scene or anywhere over the top but a great way for the two of us to connect. I’ll be perfecting the rigging when Derek is in Seattle at the end of October and will post a gallery then.

Yesterday we had rehearsals, diner with the Titan performers and studio execs then the big performance at Magnitude. The rehearsal went well. We finalized the blocking, ran through the choreography and corrected some equipment and lighting issues. The dinner with Brian Mills, Keith Webb, Bruce Cam and all the Titan performers that were brought in for the weekend was really enjoyable. Our performance at Magnitude, however, has become the most memorable experience of the trip thus far.

The Titan Men did four separate performances for Magnitude, the official dance event of the Folsom Street Fair. Dean Flynn, Eduardo and Markus Ram recreated the imagery of the Magnitude poster for the opening set. Dean and a new Titan performer, Marco Blaze had the second set with live sex. The third set featured an elaborate abduction and water sports fantasy with Diesel Washington and a new kid who’s name escapes me. Derek and I had the final performance.

Our performance began behind a scrim, our shadows cast to the audience. A dance remix of Relax by Frankie Goes to Hollywood plays. As I stood apparently leaning against a wall, Derek walks up to caress my chest. I push his hand away but when he persists and goes for it again I push him to the side. Walking pass him, I emerge from behind the scrim and onto the second riser in front of the audience. Derek follows and touches my shoulder. I turn toward him with rope in hand. He goes to caress my chest again. I grab his wrist, place a slip knot around it and proceed to immobilize his upper body with a quick arm binder. As the music builds, I push him up against a St Andrew’s cross and secure him to it then begin flogging his front side. Derek is naked and hard as a rock while I hit him with the flogger on his thighs, chest, mid-section, cock and balls.

We build to frenzy then stop. I turn while securing the flogger back to my belt and remove the four foot signal whip from my torso. A break in the music occurs and I crack it several times over the audience before turning back to Derek.

Folsom Folsom Weekend: MOD and MagnitudeI begin to strike his mid-section with the whip. Crack. Crack. Topping my first front side single tail scene. Crack. Crack. The first full cut. Crack. Crack. The second cut and third. The blood comes to the surface as the music comes to its final crescendo. I draw close to my boy and caress him. As the music begins to fall away I rip off my codpiece to reveal my ragging hard-on, put the codpiece in his mouth, untie him from the cross and lead him from stage still bound.

Back stage we were totally wired, amped on the adrenaline and sexual tension. We wanted to fuck… hard. I asked the producer if we could do another set and fifteen minutes later I lead Derek back on stage. I bent him over the second riser, spit on his ass, sheathed my cock and plunged it into his ass. He writhed and pulled away. I looped the whip around his neck and pulled him back on my cock. We fucked for the audience.

I pulled out, moved to the front of the riser and sat down. Derek followed and mounted my cock, riding it up and down, all the way in and all the way out. Again and again, the crowd goes wild. I push him off, stand up on the riser and fuck him there until satisfied. I pull out and remove the condom, shave my cock down his throat and tie the condom to his collar. Then as the music dies, I replace my cock in his mouth with the checker hanky from my back pocket and lead him off stage once again.

There’s nothing quite as exhilarating as fucking your boy in front of a couple thousand people.

Folsom Prison: Number One on the Rental Charts

30 July 2008 11:07

CagedNumber One on the ChartsSeattle, WA –- When director Brian Mills told me Titan had plans to produce a prison themed movie for the Folsom series of leather/fetish films on the set of Home Invasion back in December, my mind immediately began racing with ideas. We discussed the project on the trip back to San Francisco from the ranch. I don’t think I’ll ever forget that trip because it was my first opportunity to really connect with Brian on a deeper level. It was also the beginning of what was to become the strongest and most rewarding collaboration of my ‘art film’ career to date.

Brian and I talked at length about what motivates me to participate in creating features that include my BDSM play and what drives him to capture that kind of action. We found common ground in both the personal and altruistic reasons that inspire us. From that conversation came the look and feel for Folsom Prison as well as the framework for my scenes in the movie. I had no idea at the time I was about to become a screenwriter or have such a huge role in creating, blocking and driving the action on screen.

Number One on the Charts (Bonus)There is an inherent challenge to producing features like Fear and Folsom Prison. These are not your standard sex films. They capture an aspect of male sexuality that many would rather condemn, censor and deny. They document the kind of radical sexuality that is at the heart of our queer liberation. They spark our sexual imaginations, confront social mores and present new constructs with which we can frame our lives. They engage us in a way that not only gets us off physically but mentally and emotionally as well. As such they become, in my opinion, a truly artistic medium.

Therein lies the challenge; these films must break through to an audience pre-conditioned to mass-market productions designed for consumer-consumption. To overcome this challenge everyone involved must commit and invest their talent. I believe that those involved in Folsom Prison have done just that. And I don’t think I’m the only one that shares that opinion. As Martin Cox writes in his review on ManNet.com:

As for the cast, there’s no arguing that this group of studs is one of the best Titan has ever assembled.

For one thing, these dudes aren’t just hot as hell, they can act. Take for example Tony Buff, who looks amazing in every scene he’s in and also makes us believe he’s as corrupt and sadistic as it comes as the prison’s corrections officer. Following Tony’s lead, in the opening scene two more ultra-bad guys, Markus Ram and Bjoern Giger abuse and use prisoner Diesel Washington.

Mr. Cox isn’t the only critic to recognize the effort. Harley Shadow’s review for XX Factor reads in part:

Kink, corruption and domination tossed in with a mix of blazing wall-to-wall sex equals the best film of the year so far.

It always amazes me when I see a porn star that has more talent than we’re used to seeing. Along with director Brian Mills, stars Diesel Washington and Tony Buff have written the jaw-dropping, rip-roaring epic, Folsom Prison. It takes place in a notorious prison where the warden may be the big boss, but it’s Buff’s correction officer who is in charge, and trust me, Buff is definitely large and in charge.

Not only did Buff star in and co-write the film, he appears on the DVD cover with his uniform unbuttoned to the beltline, sporting aviator sunglasses. Only a few people in the world could pull off this look and make it look fucking sexy instead of like a Village People rip-off, and Buff is one of them. In the film he growls, sneers and intimidates his fellow officers and inmates, and while he can knock the snot out you — as he does to Derek da Silva in the latter half of the film — he will still make your cock hard.

And as Rick Strokum (don’t you just love the nom de plume) writes in today’s Guilty Pleasures article for GayWired.com:

Fans of Titan’s more fetish oriented film will not be disappointed with this new release. Folsom Prison raises the bar for all films in this genre. Hunky cover man Tony Buff proves yet again that he’s more than just a beautiful face or body. Buff’s intelligent, thoughtful, educated and sex-positive approach to his performances in this film, and in all of his work with Titan, lay the ground work for a new kind of adult performer in this industry. Buff’s scene with Alex Baresi is raw, intense, and real. Superstars Diesel Washington and Rick Van Sant also turn in memorable performances. Two nightsticks up.

So say the critics. But I’m more interested in what prompted enough viewers to place Folsom Prison in blue-ray at the top of the JRL Weekly Gay Rental Charts for last week (screen capture above). Could my relationship with Titan actually be helping to broaden the understanding of this thing of ours? I certainly hope so.

For the Record: My boy da Silva is one hard corps fucker and the true star of that shower beat down scene in Folsom Prison. Not only did he let me take a three-hundred-fifty-thousand volt stun gun to his nuts and submit to being aggressively sodomised by both Damien Crosse and myself, but, if you watch closely you can see the moment I knocked him senseless with a face punch. Don’t try that at home without a mouth guard and, of course, the guidance of an experienced practitioner.

IML XXX at the Leather Market

24 May 2008 17:00

CageIML XXX at the Leather MarketChicago, IL –- This is definitely a working weekend. Luckily, I really do enjoy the work. In addition to the release party last night, Derek and I have been manning the Titan/LeatherPost booth at the IML Leather Market yesterday and earlier today. There have been some true highlights.

Yesterday, toward the end of the day, Everett from LeatherPost asked if Derek and I would be will to do a little something that would attract some attention to the booth. Now, I’ve got to communicate just how fond I’ve become of Everett in such a short time. I met Everett over Folsom Street Fair last year. Titan and LeatherPost have had a close public relationship since the release of Folsom Filth two years ago and were sharing the booth at the fair while I was down for the release of Fear last year. When Everett relocated LeatherPost to Seattle he sought me out to welcome him to the local community and I have since grown to like him very much.

IML XXX at the Leather Market (Bonus)Request granted and what better way to attract attention at a vender mart than with a good, brutal flogging (photo above). Brian Mills was on hand with his camera and captured some good pictures of the action. We created a good spectacle and gathered quite the crowd. We fell into the headspace, got into the zone and didn’t stop until the scene was bloody. It was exhilarating.

I also got a chance to get sexy performer Vinnie D’Angelo into a quick binder (photo left). This was a rare treat because Vinnie doesn’t give up control very easily and had never been in bondage before. I could tell the rope made him nervous and a little uncomfortable but he was a good sport and proved he trusted me. You have to admit, he looks beautiful in the rope.

Tonight is the Grabbys and tomorrow Derek and I will be performing at the House of Blues for the IML XXX Victory Party, so that’s all for now.

Released: Folsom Prison

23 May 2008 10:00

PersonalReleased: Folsom PrisonChicago, IL –- Today Titan Media released Folsom Prison. Last night Derek and I got a sneak peak with director Brian Mills and cinematographer Paul Wilde. It’s a good piece of work. I’ll admit, I’m biased but that is tempered by an artist’s criticism of his own work. You can learn more about Folsom Prison here or purchase a copy and judge for yourself.

First impression: I’m all over this video from the box cover through the final scene and bonus features. Titan even gives me screen-writing credit along with Brain Mills and Diesel Washington. The over-all look and feel is cool, gritty and masculine. The action is hard, intense and, at times, even shocking. There is plenty of fetish-contend and brutal sexuality captured with iconic prison-fantasy imagery and classic Titan production quality.

While I had initially hoped to be cast as a prison gang leader (we’ll save that idea for another feature), I took to my role as the corrupt corrections officer with ease. I got a chance to work with newest, bad boy Titanmen Exclusive Chad Manning and much of our b-reel footage adds continuity to Folsom Prison. Our shower scene at the end of the video was a lot of fun. Chad definitely knows how to take it like a man. Also taking it like a man in the finale is my boy Derek da Silva. That boy is totally amazing. Not only did he take a fairly good beat down from the other guys in the scene, but face punching (if you watch closely you can see him go out after the third punch) and a stun gun to the nuts. And, of course, there’s Alex Baresi. I really enjoyed working with him; connecting with him seemed effortless. The scene with him and Vinnie D’Angelo was one of the easiest shoots I’ve done with Titan.

Note of Caution: Do not try this at home without the guidance of an experienced practitioner. Fisting, impact (especially advanced techniques like face punching) and electricity play are specific skill sets. There is very real risk of injury associated with these activities. While these skills can be learned fairly quickly, I cannot stress enough the importance of learning from and experienced player. Not only will it provide an opportunity for interactive understanding of risk mitigation and guided practical application but will help build strong community relationships and serve to sustain the tradition of mentoring within our community.

There is however, one risk mitigation skill you can employ without any instruction. Put a condom on if you’re going to fuck and demand that your partner do the same if you’re on the receiving end.

So, Derek and I will be at the TitanMen/LeaterPost booth mid days on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Will be there no earlier than 11:30 and out by 13:00 on Saturday, but will probably stay past that on Friday and Sunday. You can bet we’ll be having some fun at the booth.

Friday night will find us at the San Francisco / Folsom Prison Release Party. We connect with the crew that produce Folsom Street Fair and playing at the Power House when we’re in San Francisco. It’s an open party so Derek and I want to invite all of our friends and family that are in town to join us in the Crystal Ballroom at the host hotel.

Saturday, Derek and I have been asked to present at the Grabby’s. We’ll be there with the crew from Titan and I’m looking forward to spending some time with Brian and Paul. I’m sure Dean will be busy with his co-hosting duties, but it will be good to catch up with Diesel and Rick. Fear is up for Best Fetish Extreme Video and Breakers is nominated for Best All-Sex Video so I have a vested interest in at least two of the awards. While our presence may be delayed, we’re hopeful things at the Grabby’s will be well enough organized to grant Derek and I a chance to join our brothers in the Chicago Hellfire Club at the Annual Cocktail Party. Personally, I’m more concerned about having the energy and opportunity to play at the clubhouse Saturday night.

On Sunday at the IML Victory Party at the House of Blues, Derek and I are scheduled to perform a demo. I’m still not sure what we’ll be demonstrating but if logistics permit, we’d like to reprise the dynamic suspension scene we’ve been working on this year.

Side Bar: We’re performing at the House of BluesL. How cool is that?

In addition to the above, Derek and I have co-authored the first in what should be and series of columns for Instigator Magazine. Anatomy of a Scene: Blood Sports has already gone to publication and will be in the issue available over IML.

Sneak Preview: Folsom Prison

9 May 2008 16:20

CagedSneak Preview: Folsom PrisonSeattle, WA –- In two weeks Titan Media will release the latest in the Folsom series of Leather/Fetish films. Folsom Prison represents the collaborative efforts of some of the best talent in the gay adult video industry to bring you the highest quality BDSM ever captured on screen.

Working with director Brian Mills, the production crew and my fellow performers on Prison has been the highlight of my art film career. Brian has a voyeuristic passion for capturing the essence of a scene. Thanks to the working relationship we’ve developed over the past nine months, I was able to work closely with him to stage the two scenes I have in Prison. My scene partners (who include Alex Baresi and Vinnie D’Angelo in one scene; and my boy Derek da Silva, Chad Manning, Damien Crosse and Dominic Sol in the other) help bring to life the dark, provoking fantasies of life behind bars. With a crew capable of capturing every shot, angle and sound combined with a post-production team with a history of pulling it all together, Folsom Prison promises to deliver an electrifying experience.

Keith Webb, the VP over at Titan sent me these sneak previews of the Folsom Prison box cover (above) and trailer (left) to share with all of you. I can’t wait to see the final edit in two weeks.

I’ll be at the LeatherPost/Titan booth at the Leather Market over IML in Chicago along with Brian Mills, Paul Wilde, Diesel Washington, Rick van Sant, and my boy Derek da Silva. You can pick up your copy of Folsom Prison, in either DVD or Blu-Ray disk at the booth. Remember, a portion of the sale benefits the TitanMen/Folsom Street Events Fund. You can also help us celebrate the release of Folsom Prison at the San Francisco Party in the West Tower Crystal Ballroom of the Hyatt Friday night from 10:00 pm to 2:00 am. I definitely hope to see you there.

Production Code: PRISON

7 March 2008 8:26

CagedSan Francisco, CA –- Part of Titan Media’s Folsom series of features, the prison themed production is scheduled for release over IML weekend in Chicago, IL. While I’ll reserve my expectations of how it will be received by my peers until I view the finished product, I am confident it represents the best effort and contribution I have added to a production thus far.

We finished principle photography yesterday after completing a scene I pitched to Director Brian Mills during the trip back to San Francisco from the Titan ranch following a shoot in January. I was thrilled to learn we would get a chance to create it while I was down for a scene with Alex Baesi and Vinnie D’Angelo in February. What I didn’t expect was the unprecedented latitude Brian granted me to structure the scene, block the action and work with my fellow performers to capture the experience.

I wish I could elaborate on the details of the scene but I don’t want to speculate upon the content of the final edit or spoil the release. I think it’s safe however to describe the setting as a communal prison shower and that my scene partners were my boy Derek da Silva, Chad Manning, Damien Crosse and Dominic Sol. I will also add that the beat-down sequence may very well be unlike anything you have ever seen captured before on DVD. It was electrifying and the energy flows directly into the sexual chemistry that unfolds.

Once the feature is released, I’ll break down the various risk-mitigation efforts employed to ensure no one was injured during the action.

Which brings me to my Buff Enough, Recommendation of the Week: Derek da Silva. If you are a producer of director of BDSM features, I highly recommend casting my boy in your flick. He is one of the most skilled practitioners I have ever met. When paired with me, or a master like Roger from Shotgun Video, Derek will suffer outrageous fortune. Whether topping or bottoming, he brings a vast skill set and creativity to a scene.

Today I have a breakfast meeting with Bruce Cam the President of Titan and prep work for the scene we’re shooting next week for another feature. Sorry folks, no photo for this post. I did however see a copy of one of the stills from the shoot and it’s really good. Ciao.

Rock Hard with the TitanMen

16 February 2008 16:26

CagedRock Hard with the TitanMenSan Francisco, CA –- The first official event of the weekend was a public appearance at the Rock Hard in San Francisco’s Castro neighborhood. It was a promotional event coinciding with the VOD premiere of Breakers exclusively on NakedSword.com.

Breakers Director and Titan Media studio head Bruce Cam was present with Vice President Keith Webb, Director Brian Mills, Cinematographer Paul Wild and Production Coordinator Ed Vincent. The TitanMen on-hand included (as pictured from left to right): Damien Crosse, Rick Van Sant, Dean Flynn, Diesel Washington, Alex Berasi, Derek da Silva, Tony Buff, and Bjoern Giger. Sometimes I still find it hard to believe I’m associated with a studio of Titan’s caliber and included with performers like those pictured above.

Rock Hard with the TitanMen (Bonus) As Breakers played in the background on a large flat-screen TV inside the shop we were occupied by signing autographs, photo ops and questions about our work. While Dean, Alex and I were taking our turn inside we got a chance to snap this picture (left) with Julian from NakedSword.com.

As those of you who read my journal regularly already know, I really enjoyed working with Dean Flynn; he’s a beautiful, intelligent guy and talented performer. What I haven’t shared yet is what a pleasure it was working with Alex Berasi. I got a chance to complete a scene with him and Vinnie D’Angelo for Folsom Prison (in production now) a couple weeks ago. I was a bit concerned about the size difference (Alex is a gorilla of a man) but the connection between us was so good I think it’s is one of the best scenes in which I’ve been. Not to mention he’s so sweet, I just want to lock him in a cage and shove bananas… but I digress. The prison-themed Folsom feature is slated for release over IML weekend. If the energy of that scene is any indication of film as a whole it will be well worth the purchase price.

We left immediately following our appearance for rehearsals at the Giftcenter. No comment on that particular cluster-fuck. We’ve got a little over an hour to get ready for the show. Wish us luck in the extreme category.
