Seattle, WA – Up Your Alley, a leather street fair produced by Folsom Street Events (FSE), was held this past weekend in San Francisco this past weekend. Dore, as many of us in the leather/Sm community commonly refer to the weekend of events, includes play parties hosted by the Men of Discipline and the 15 Association, the San Francisco Leather Daddy contest and various bar nights in addition to the official FSE sponsored events like the Bay of Pigs dance party and the street fair itself. While not as large an event weekend as Folsom, Dore attracts a devoted following of players from around the world.
My boy, Derek Da Silva and I arrived in San Fran late Friday evening and almost immediately went to the Men of Discipline play party at the Citadel where we met up with my boy Rico and our pup Element. We caught up with friends. Derek beat on Rico until the latter was a giggling and exhausted mess. Then Derek and I ran sutures on the pup; honing our skills and experimenting with different types of suture kits. The intensity was there although I know I was weary from travel and a chaotic schedule.
Derek and I performed with Tober Brandt and several others at Bay of Pigs late Saturday night. But for me, the highlights of the weekend included the times we got to share with Chi Chi LaRue, Sister Roma and Scott Tanner. Derek, Rico, the pup and I met up with Chi Chi and Roma for brunch at my favorite SOMA café, Rocco's, Saturday morning. Kokoe, a friend of Derek and mine, and an avid social commentator of Twitter joined us as well. The conversation was both stimulating and humorous with a variety of topics ranging from idle industry chit-chat to performance art and philosophy. Later that afternoon Chi Chi, Roma and Scott joined the boys and me in the Castro at Moby Dicks for cocktails and more conversation. It was a truly wonderful day. And, I have to comment, there is something about Chi Chi that makes everyone around her feel like a star.
At the street fair on Sunday, Derek and I stopped by the NakedSword booth to say hello to Steve Cruz, Bruno Bond and Alessio Romero. While there we got wrangled into a brief interview... porn's first couple of BDSM and all... not the most interesting moniker but it is nice to have the work we've done together recognized. We also stood for Mama's Family portrait before hooking up with Element, Rico and Rico's sister (who is a total hottie, by-the-way).
Of course, there was no way I was going to attend Dore without creating at least a little spectacle. I did some rope work in front of the Recon booth with Derek and Element. The rigging was blazing fast and attracted quite the crowd. Although my guess is the crowd was more attracted by the naked boys than any of my handy work with the rope. I've posted two galleries. The first gallery is the series of images taken by Tristan Savatier. You can see more of his work at loupiote.com. The second gallery of photos is from Emil Sayad. You can find more of his photography on Flicker.
Toward the end of the fair, the boys and I found ourselves, once again in the company of Chi Chi Larue, Sister Roma and Scott Tanner. This time, we were at the Whole in the Wall (image right). From there we went to Truck, where Roma hosted a Big Dick contest judged by Chi Chi, Steven Scarborough, Scott Tanner and myself. The pup entered and won hands down. I would have recused myself as a judge, but that thing was clearly larger than anything else on stage and the audience was in vocal agreement. Derek and I left shortly after the contest having had our fill of crowds and drink for the weekend.
My thanks goes out to everyone I've mentioned in this post in addition to Titan Media for letting Derek and I stay at the studio apartment for the weekend. You all help make my Dore the best I've ever had.
